"Historic Downtown Tales" Tour to be Offered by Eureka Springs' "Hub" HotelThe historic hotel here that serves as "the hub of downtown" will be offering tours entitled "Historic Downtown Tales of Eureka Springs". The tours will be conducted every Friday, Saturday evenings at 6 o'clock. The 1905 Basin Park Hotel is located here at 12 Spring Street. "Downtown Eureka Springs was the WILD WEST and with such a colorful history we wanted to expose our visitors to discover that history as well as sharing some of the paranormal stories about The Basin Park Hotel," said hotel general manager Jack Moyer, "the tour allows visitors to learn about the history of Eureka Springs, hear audio stories of the people who lived amongst the infamous characters and discover things about this town that one would never imagine." The downtown tales will include stories about gunfights, Jesse James, The Dalton Gang, Pretty Boy Floyd, Al Capone, Underground Eureka, gambling, speakeasies and hidden caves. The hotel paranormal stories include such unexplainable sightings as the translucent young woman with "cotton candy blonde hair and steel-blue eyes," or the little girl of age three or four in "pigtails and a yellow dress" that frolics throughout, plus floating orbs, and flying pool cues. "Just the history alone of either downtown or this hotel is worthy of a tour unto itself," Moyer added, "but we've combined the two to give our visitors his tour's worth. It's a chance to 'hear the tales and see the places.'" Tickets for the tours are available the day of the tour for $15.00 per person at the front desk of the hotel. No advance reservations are required but space is limited so attendees are encouraged to purchase tickets as soon as possible on any given tour day. Both still and video cameras are encouraged.
